The Start of Something Great
Adrian Hinton, creator of ZoidChords Productions, has been passionate about music all his life. He grew up in a musical household – both of his parents sang and his father had a very extensive record collection. Hinton and his father listened to many records together – like Stevie Wonder, Bobby Blueland, Willie Nelson, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones.
Because of his immersion into music at a young age, Hinton honed his perfect pitch and learned how to pick out notes and core progressions just by listening to a song.
Making Waves in the Music Industry
In college, Adrian Hinton joined forces with Christopher Terrell to write music and demo records around Raleigh, NC. Their collaboration proved to be magic, as the pair quickly crossed paths with big industry names.
Through a college roommate at North Carolina Central University, they secured a meeting with Teddy Riley. A friend at Howard University also got them an introduction to Sean Puffy Combs aka (P. Diddy and Sean Love Combs).
They ended up completing a little work with Teddy Riley and Puffy made them his ‘secret weapon.’ They released Dance with Me, worked with The Notorious B.I.G., and the group Total.
Long term, they did not fully sign with Puffy and instead, signed with Brian Leach of RCA Records. Brian Leach was also the manager for Pit Bull.
The Next Chapter
Through Brian Leach, Hinton and Terrell received a record deal at RCA Records for $250,000 with a recording budget of $50,000 each. However, A&R staff changes resulted in the record never getting released. Hinton and Terrell went their separate ways.
Hinton stayed in New York to continue honing his craft, maintaining his business relationships, and buying equipment – which allowed him to book studio time, work on his music, and eventually create his own studio.
Now, he hopes to use this website as a vessel to continue his creative path. Welcome to ZoidChords Productions.
